Social media is a huge part of our daily lives, shaping how we interact with others and view ourselves. When you first downloaded your apps, your following list was probably filled with friends from school, family, people you knew IRL. But, today you’ve probably never met 75% of the people you follow. And that’s okay (well, sort of)...
The Positives & Negatives Of Social Media
You’ve probably heard of all the negatives of social media — damaging body image, mental health, FOMO, losing sleep, the list goes on and on. A lot of this is perpetuated by social media influencers (those people you don’t really know), who seem to live perfect unattainable lives. While there’s nothing wrong with following influencers, be careful about who you’re following and how they’re influencing you.
Luckily, social media can be full of positives — body positivity, mental health, spreading awareness of social issues (like #BLM and #MeToo.) And there are tons of influencers out there who are sharing these positive, pro-social and feminist messages.
