Can A Vibrator Damage The Nerve Endings of My Clitoris?
We asked our medical advisor, Dr. Shieva Ghofrany what she would tell a patient who uses sex toys with high-powered vibration for pleasure and is concerned about having damaged or desensitized nerve endings. Here's what she told us:
Can a vibrator damage or desensitize the nerve endings of my clitoris?
People sometimes worry that if they use their vibrator too much they're going to damage their clitoris or their nerve endings.
The truth is, I have had patients who have told me that because they use a vibrator so frequently, they are absolutely unable to have an orgasm with their partner - whether it's male or female, whether it's vaginal or clitoral, whether it's penis and vagina, or whether it's oral sex.Â
The good news is they have not caused any permanent damage, but they have changed their threshold for a short period of time. And they find that they need to continue to use that high intensity vibration to achieve an orgasm.Â
What we recommend is to just stop using the vibrator and have external stimulation. This is a great way to have external stimulation because the WaterSlyde will stimulate your clitoris, but mostly your labia as well, which contains fibers from the clitoris.Â
So through gentle stimulation like this, you're really able to kind of allow those nerve endings to not feel like they need such a high intensity vibration. You haven't caused any damage - short or long term. But certainly if you find that you are unable to have an orgasm because you've been using a vibrator for so long, just lay off the vibrator for a couple of weeks and try something else.
Is the water pressure strong enough to give me an orgasm?
Interestingly some people worry that there might not be enough pressure generated from the WaterSlyde to mount an orgasm. That tells me that they really haven't learned their own anatomy and they haven't explored themselves.
We know that the clitoris is not just a little area of tissue but comes down the labia... and so stimulation of that entire area really leads to an intense build up. And many people will say that their orgasms are much more explosive, much more intense when it's done over a slightly longer period of time and gentler.
I've even had patients who have said that when they've consistently used vibrators, or for example, a shower head to have an orgasm then with a partner even through oral sex was really minimized because their threshold of intensity needed to be so much stronger something that their partner couldn't generate.Â
Whereas if you change it up and you have orgasms through the WaterSlyde as well where you're really enjoying it and you're languishing in it and you're allowing the water to stimulate all the parts of your clitoris not just that little part that we've been taught was the most important then you really can understand different sensations.
So we really advocate for this not exclusively but certainly in addition to if not exclusively because it appreciates your sexuality in a way that we were never really taught.

Slow Pleasure 101: A Woman's Guide to Sensual Bliss
Hey there, lovely ladies! Today, I want to dive into a topic that's near and dear to my heart – slow pleasure. Yep, you heard me right! We're talking about taking our time, savoring every sensation, and embracing the art of slow pleasure. So, grab your favorite cozy spot, settle in, and let's explore why slow pleasure is so important, how it can lead to mind-blowing orgasms, and some of the best methods to achieve it.
What is Slow Pleasure?
First things first, let's talk about what exactly slow pleasure is. Slow pleasure is all about taking your time to fully immerse yourself in the moment and enjoy every sensation. It's about savoring the journey rather than rushing to the destination, and reaping the benefits of being fully aroused. Whether you're flying solo or with a partner, slow pleasure is about indulging in sensuality, exploring your desires, and embracing the pleasure of the present moment.
Why is Slow Pleasure Important?
Now, you might be wondering, why is slow pleasure so important anyway? Well, let me tell you, slow pleasure is essential for connecting with your body, your desires, and your partner on a deeper level. It allows you to tune into your senses, let go of stress and distractions, and fully experience the pleasure that your body is capable of. Slow pleasure can also help you build intimacy and trust with your partner, leading to more fulfilling and satisfying sexual experiences.
How Slow Pleasure Provides the Best Orgasms
Ah, the big question – how does slow pleasure lead to the best orgasms? Well, my dear, it's all about building anticipation and arousal gradually. When you take your time to explore your erogenous zones and indulge in sensual touch, you're building up sexual tension and excitement that can lead to incredibly intense orgasms. By focusing on slow, deliberate movements and paying attention to what feels good, you're giving yourself the best chance to reach new heights of pleasure.
The Best Methods to Achieve Slow Pleasure
Now that we've covered why slow pleasure is so important and how it can lead to mind-blowing orgasms, let's talk about some of the best methods to achieve it. Here are a few ideas to get you started:
1. Mindfulness Meditation
Start by practicing mindfulness meditation to help you tune into your body and become more present in the moment. Focus on your breath, scan your body for any areas of tension, and allow yourself to fully relax and let go.
2. Sensual Massage
Treat yourself (or your partner) to a luxurious sensual massage. Use warm massage oil (or better yet, a seductive, mood-setting massage candle), gentle strokes, and varying pressures to awaken your senses and heighten arousal. Take your time exploring each other's bodies and enjoying the pleasure of touch.
3. Slow Foreplay
Foreplay is essential for building arousal and anticipation. Take your time exploring each other's bodies, kissing, touching, and caressing with intention and mindfulness. Focus on the sensations and let yourself get lost in the moment.
4. Sensual Bath
Indulge in a sensual bath - solo or with your partner. Use luxurious bath oils, scented candles, and soft music to create a romantic atmosphere. Take your time washing each other's bodies, exploring erogenous zones, and enjoying the sensation of warm water cascading over your skin. For many women, a water orgasm is the best orgasm — one that comes from savoring each sensation instead of racing toward the finish line.
5. Solo Exploration
Don't forget to take time for yourself! Set aside some solo playtime to explore your body and indulge in self-pleasure. Use your hands, a vibrator, or other sex toys to explore and discover different sensations and find what feels best for you. It's never too late to improve your masturbation skills!
6. Tantric Techniques
Explore tantric techniques such as breathwork, energy circulation, and mindful touch to deepen your connection with yourself and your partner. Tantric practices emphasize slow, deliberate movements and finding connection with Tantra can lead to incredibly powerful and transformative sexual experiences.
So, there you have it – a woman's guide to embracing slow pleasure. Remember, slow pleasure is all about taking your time, savoring every sensation, and fully immersing yourself in the moment. Whether you're flying solo or with a partner, I encourage you to explore the world of slow pleasure and discover the incredible pleasure that awaits you. Embrace your desires, listen to your body, and enjoy the journey. You deserve it!
